Porcelain Grates, and Spill Trays: All exposed surfaces of the grates, burner caps, and spill trays have been coated with a protective 2 layers of porcelain enamel (matching the cooktop color) which keeps them from rusting. Spillovers introduce highly acidic foods, so all porcelain enamel components can undergo minor discoloration, staining or chipping. Gaskets around the undersides of the spill trays ensure that the burners and spill trays are sealed preventing any liquid spilled from entering the cooktop chassis. All spills remain on the top surface of the cooktop. Burner Caps: 5 burners: 2 large 10,500 BTU/HR-back burners; 2 medium 7,000 BTU/HR-front left and right; 1 small 2,400 BTU/HR-front center. Burners are attached to the porcelain spill trays by brass retain nuts. Brass Burner Rings: Five positioning tabs have been placed on the bottom of each burner ring to slide into corresponding notches in the fixed burner base. When positioned properly, the "Smart-Flame" feature prevents direct flame impingement on the fingers of the porcelain grate. This reduces temperatures on the grate and improves flame and performance characteristics. Burner Ignitors and Perma-Flame: Then a control knob is rotated more than 15 degrees, all ignitors will spark continuously until the gas ignites on the selected burner. In addition, due the the "Perma-Flame" reignition feature, the ignitors will spark automatically if a flame should blow out. Dirty or wet ignitors will result in constant sparking, even if there is a flame present which appears to be the current condition. Control Knobs and Control Valves: 5 knobs are positioned in a single row along the right edge of the cooktop. The cooktop features brass progressive valves. To activate the valve, first press down on the knob, then rotate the knob 90 degrees to the :HI: setting to ignite. After lighting, turn knob to the desired setting. Below the knob, a spill protector ring is inserted into the opening in the glass to prevent spills from entering the cooktop chassis. These protectors are made of a composite plastic material that is resistant to cracking and staining. Constant clicking of your gas cooktop : Constant clicking and sparking in not dangerous unless the burner does not light and gas is released from the stove. The most common culprits for the clicking gas burners are: 1. There could be a wet burner, or a buildup of grease or food particles in the small holes around the head of the burner. These holes must be clean and free from debris. Use an item like a toothbrush or wire to clean these holes if necessary, but don't use items like toothpicks that might break off inside the hole. 2. Faulty ignition switch: If a switch is faulty, you will need to replace every switch by purchasing a replacement switch harness for your cooktop model. This repair is simple as unplugging the old harness and plugging the new one in. 3. Faulty Spark Module: like the ignition switch, the spark module could become faulty due to voltage variance to the electrode which can be checked by a multimeter. Like the ignition switch, you merely need to unplug the wires from the old spark module and plug them into the replacement. 4. Lastly, there may be a faulty spark electrode, which can be easily replaced by removing the orifice holder that contains the electrode of the clicking burner. Simply pull it off the attached wire and replace it with the new electrode, then secure it with the orifice holder.
