Skills:
Ability to use modular and UI driven scripting applications to develop and maintain content according to business requirements
Ability to review XML, XHTML and other markup and understand the mechanics behind website functionality
Ability to review and understand the function of SQL, basic Java, and Perl code
Ability to write detailed content transformation requirements
Ability to make recommendations for process and content product improvements
Ability to work in a Scrum/Agile environment
Ability to research and resolve issues in support of established requirements
50% applications development, 50% analysis.
Position
Summary:
Responsible for moving new content sets to production; working collaboratively with content owners, product managers, editorial, systems, and manufacturing staff to ensure that content supports product, platform, and manufacturing standards; sustaining the quality of ingested content; and contributing to process and system improvements.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Pre-Production Analysis
Support the evaluation process by providing input on usability of sample electronic feed and online content based on current system capabilities and product requirements
Work with management, providers and internal departments to inform them of content structure and possible revisions needed to support product requirements
Content Development and Maintenance
Using modular and UI driven scripting applications, develop acquisition, mapping, and transform flows to add content to product, migrate content to new manufacturing methods, and perform break/fix analysis and repair
Create filter specifications, transformation services or web harvesters, cross-referencing the structure of the data with the capabilities of system and product requirements
Supporting one or more pipelines, own quality and timeliness of new content from project start to ongoing production
Consistently communicate status and maintain reports throughout all phases of new content, migration, project, and sustaining work
Improvement and Product Support
Participate in small and medium-scale product, and process improvement projects to support new product development, improve efficiency, quality, timeliness, and interdepartmental communication
Understand and contribute to a team driven, cross-departmental, Scrum environment
Share functional and technical knowledge with other team members
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of business process documents within core departmental responsibilities
Contribute to problem solving, collaboration, process improvement, and information sharing
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Library and Information Science, Liberal Arts, or Computer Science or equivalent experience
Up to 3
years experience transforming scholarly and other content in a similar industry or through related coursework
Experience using regular expressions
Experience contributing to business and process requirements and related documentation
Proven record of communicating and working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent written, verbal and listening skills to effectively communicate across multiple levels within the organization.
