## Job Summary
The Division Cardiovascular Medicine is currently seeking an Exercise Physiologist to join our team to conduct CPET (cardiopulmonary exercise tests), non-invasive diagnostic exercise tests; assist in Phase II and Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation; conduct external counter pulsation treatments and to prescribe exercise programs for patients at the University of Michigan Health System.
## Responsibilities
Develop and conduct the fitness testing services available, including ECG treadmill tests, CPET, VO2 resting metabolic testing, body composition analysis, and muscle strength, flexibility and endurance assessments.
Assist in Phase II and Phase III Cardiac Rehabilitation with education and monitoring of patients.
Prepare patients and perform resting ECGs, holter monitors, and other cardiovascular diagnostic and monitoring procedures.
Prescribe specific programs of exercise to patients and counsel them on how to achieve their fitness goals.
Assist in the development and implementation of special exercise programs for individuals with health problems. Responsible for evaluating the programs' physiological safety and effectiveness and for teaching classes (e.g. cardiac rehab, arthritis exercise, etc.).
Assist in the organization and implementation of wellness screenings offered to area businesses and organizations.
Serve as a consultant and speaker on the importance of and effects of exercise and other health promotion topics.
Assist in the establishment of data collection and evaluation procedures for fitness-related programs.
Contribute to the advancement and promotion of services through participation in professional associations, writing articles for publications and representing the Medical Center in community activities.
Monitor patients' vital signs and be prepared to perform CPR or other necessary emergency first aid procedures, while seeking appropriate medical assistance.
May supervise work of other physiologists, including hiring, evaluating performance and discipline.
May train staff and students in new or revised work methods and procedures.
On call for stress testing; weekends - is required.
May prepare routine and special reports and sections of annual budget.
May assist in the establishment of unit rules and regulations.
## Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in exercise physiology, exercise science or a related field is required.
Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist is required within one year of hire is required.
Certification in Basic Life Support and Advance Cardiac Life Support is required.
Experience in clinical testing, exercise prescription and evaluation is necessary.
Understands and demonstrates the core concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC), including: Respect and Dignity, Information Sharing, Participation, and Collaboration.
Note - this classification requires Primary Source Verification.
## Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in exercise physiology, exercise science or a related field.
Six months Cardiology experience preferred.
Stress testing experience with high risk patients (i.e. heart failure, aortic stenosis, etc.).
One year experience in both stress testing and cardiac rehabilitation.
CPET (cardiopulmonary exercise testing) experience.
Health education and wellness program experience preferred.
## Work Schedule
Part-time. 20 hours per week. Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Days and hours will vary weekly, and based on unit need.
Working location will vary, and may be at Domino's Farms, Cardiovascular Center, Canton Health Center, Briarwood Health Center, Brighton Health Center or Livonia Health Center.

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires extensive standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring of patients.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
