## Responsibilities
Plan, organize and/or coordinate assigned renovation, construction and maintenance projects for all College of Engineering (CoE) buildings. Review and comment on schematic designs, design development and construction documents to ensure the documents meet the occupant objectives and CoE standards.
Conduct energy analyses and prepare reports on usage/costs. Work closely with UM Plant Operation staff on energy conservation measures for the College of Engineering (CoE) buildings. Monitor and track effectiveness of energy saving initiatives. Work with CoE departments to reduce energy usage.
Coordinate training for, and ensure completion of the space survey for the CoE. Prepare final submission ensuring the data is complete and accurate. Maintain and track all CoE Space Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Work with the Medical School space unit on tracking CoE space and producing desired reports.
Coordinate CoE building signage & occupancy directory program working with CoE departments and UM ITS to maintain and update as necessary.
Master planning ? working closely with the CoE Facilities Director, contribute to the planning and scope development of both major projects and annual activities of the Facilities Management Office (FMO).
Serve as one of the CoE representatives on the UM Facilities Users Network (FUN) executive committee. Eventual goal is to serve as the FUN Chair for a one year term.
Work with the CoE department Facility Managers to ensure a unified approach in dealing with UM entities, e.g; OSEH, Building Services, Construction Services, AEC, Maintenance, etc.
Assist the CoE Facilities Director with the overall planning and operations of the CoE Facilities Management Office including both administrative and facility management responsibilities.
Manage the Security Camera Process for the CoE per SPG 606.01.
## Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent of education and work experience in a related field. Preferred Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering).
Considerable construction project management experience
Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve and manage a variety of complex projects and initiatives independently and with minimal direction or supervision, with sensitivities to performing work in an academic environment and with complete understanding of requirements and constraints inherent in academic facilities operations environment
A strong technical knowledge of building systems and applicable codes required
Experience working with general contractors, facility renovations, and routine maintenance projects
Demonstrated ability to develop and create ideas, processes and approaches; uses analysis and critical thinking skills to solve problems; ensures that decisions are aligned with articulated strategic directions of management
Experience using computer software applications, concepts and systems including experience in a data warehouse environment and Microsoft Office applications.
College/university or multi-building facility maintenance preferred
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to deliver presentations tailored to the level and type of audience.
Excellent organizational, prioritization and attention to detail skill sets.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff, students, faculty, and the public.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction documents, exhibiting a sound understanding of the built environment from foundations to roofing systems.
Proven ability to work successfully under pressure, to prioritize multiple tasks, schedule work, and meet commitments.
Proven ability to foster a strong, cohesive team environment and work in a fast-paced, high performing work place where deadlines are critical and both internal and external customers are demanding.
Must have the abilities to walk, stand for extended periods; the ability to stoop, kneel, the ability to climb ladders, access difficult, tight spaces, work at heights, work in outdoor locations involving temperature extremes.
