Marquee Arts is looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for community to join the team as the Bookkeeper and Payroll Coordinator.
Summary:
The Bookkeeper/Payroll Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the financial operations of Marquee Arts including assisting with budgeting, ensuring accuracy of financial data, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and assisting with audit preparation, etc.
Essential Functions:

Prepares, processes, and manages payroll.
Including tax setup/withholding, garnishment, benefits, etc.
Remits payroll deductions and State Unemployment taxes in a timely manner Records and tracks film costs on a bi-weekly basis Records sales receipts, deposits, and accounts receivable payments Records Live Show invoices and tracks outstanding invoices.
Records journal entries as needed.
Obtains reports from ticketing system and records appropriate transactions in accounting database.
Manages Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
Assists in compiling financial information required for surveys, grants, general reporting purposes.
Assists in liaising with the auditors.
Maintains Vendor Database, including W9 management.
Calculate and submit sales tax to the State of Michigan monthly and submit annual return.
Prepare Positive Pay file for each check run and upload to our bank.
Complete the Escheat process for unclaimed checks to vendors per the State of Michigan guidelines on an annual basis.
Manages Amazon Business account including training staff on order request process and approving all orders placed by staff members.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties Attends regular staff meetings.
Monitors inventory of office supplies Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This role requires sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
Extended computer use is required.
Travel Limited local travel is required to make deposits and post mail.
Work Environment The work is primarily indoors in an office environment within a theater building and may have some exposure to fumes, odor, dust, etc.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but is occasionally loud.
Required Education and Experience Associate degree in business, accounting, or related field with 3-5 years of related experience.
OR combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
Knowledge of accounting principles; experience in software and computers.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as work collaboratively and diplomatically with others.
Strong problem-solving skills, technical skills, process and project management skills, attention to detail and organization, with the ability to be self-directed and work collegially within a small organization.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
