SummaryThe Senior Director for Enterprise Disinfection & Sterilization Services is responsible for providing system-wide leadership for the coordination, reprocessing and sterilization of surgical, clinic and procedural instruments for Michigan Medicine.
Oversees all disinfection and sterilization process for the clinical enterprise and associated Michigan Medicine facilities.
Performs and/or directs systems analyses to create improved sterile processing operational efficiencies.
Leads the development of strategic and associated business plans.
Collects and analyzes data from various sources and reports/reviews findings with appropriate individuals or committees and executive leadership.
The role will perform frequent consultation and collaborations across the enterprise to determine required actions and recommendations.

Responsibilities Collaborates with executive leadership, surgical operations, Nursing, and Hospital leadership, and ACU's to oversee the fiscal planning, strategic planning, budgeting, regulatory compliance, employee engagement and continuous improvement for the Central Sterile Processing Departments, High Level Disinfection and CERD.
Advises leadership on respective segment planning strategies, industry standards for all aspects of instrument processing and sterilization/HLD, and all regulatory standards.
Build capacity in alignment with strategic planning and key growth areas, considering and in collaboration with system partners as appropriate.
Informs and oversees system staffing models, quality performance & operational productivity considering external benchmarks and best practices.
Adapts to changes in priorities, goals, objectives, and regulatory requirements, etc.
Design, and continuously assess and update reprocessing operational delivery models (centralized vs decentralized, etc.
) for optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop / implement facilities standards (operational production, quality indicators, performance indicators, equipment performance indicators) in partnership with key enterprise leaders (i.
e.
, OCA, IPE, Facilities, HR).
Lead multi-year capital budget planning and execution of projects.
Ensure standard operating procedures across sites to include standard new hire training, competency evaluation and quality assurance processes and key performance indicators.
The position provides and monitors compliance with policies and regulatory agency standards including, but not limited to The Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, AORN and AAMI.
Ensures continual accreditation readiness with sterilization and high level of disinfection.
Operational Support - Ensures appropriate management of operations across all sites of service:

Supports managers during inspections and ensure enterprise consistency.
Serves as representative with affiliates to develop and evaluate operational partnerships and/or standard performance measures across the clinical enterprise and markets.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration or closely related field or Bachelor's degree completed within one year of hire will be considered.
10 or more years of professional and relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years of progressive management positions in the leadership of sterile reprocessing departments, preferably in a large academic and/or complex medical facility.
Subject matter expertise of medical device reprocessing, inclusive of surgical instrumentation, supplies, equipment, sterilizers, sterilization, and high-level disinfection.
Extensive knowledge of operating room, medical instruments and O.
R.
procedures.
Knowledge of Clinic Instrumentation and practicesDemonstrated ability to build effective working relationships, interact effectively and negotiate professionally with influential entities.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence others as well as to maintain an environment of collaboration and trust.

Experience in developing and implementing process improvement strategies and quality initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma etc.
)The flexibility to orient and work at all Michigan Medicine Medical Center locations.
