Summary To assist with research activities within the Department of Psychiatry related to Sleep and Circadian Rhythms in various clinical populations.
With guidance from faculty and research personnel, the clinical research assistant will support coordination and administrative details of assigned projects, including but not limited to screening and collecting information from potential participants according to the research study protocols, conduct interviews in person and via phone calls, conduct epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples (e.
g.
saliva, blood, urine, feces) from research participants in studies.
The CRC-assistant will also coordinate study visits and follow-up of study participants.
The CRC-assistant may also assist in preparation of progress reports and other summary materials, perform literature searches and retrieving articles.
The potential exists to assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentations at conferences and workshops.
The CRC-assistant will work collaboratively with other team members and also independently to fulfill the goals of the project.
Responsibilities Telephone activity includes screening calls for participant recruitment and scheduling potential participants for in-person research visits.
Assisting study coordinator in tracking participant and study progress, monitoring of active participants during laboratory sessions, detailed record-keeping, data entry and verification, filing, collection and processing of biological materials (e.
g.
saliva, blood, urine, feces), and other duties as assigned.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a critical component of this job?s responsibilities.
Demonstrated multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize workload efficiently are essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants with various clinical conditions is vital.
Outstanding written and verbal communication capability is required and expected.
Additional responsibilities include attending all assigned trainings, and risk assessments as needed.
Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED is necessary.
Desired Qualifications Associate's Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.
An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.
Bachelor's degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is highly desirable.
Experience using Microsoft 365.
A strong ability to problem-solve individually and with project team.
Work Schedule This is a full-time position; capped at 40 hours/week.
Work may be required on a few evenings a week and weekends, if research participants are full-time workers and are only available after regular office hours.
Thus, availability to work evenings, and weekends when called for under the planned study protocols is required.
