We have a exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager to join our team! This role combines a solid background of tax and tax-regulation hands-on experience along with advisory work with clients on business actions and operational goals.
This role will also manage and coach other tax team members and the opportunity has the potential for growth into a Partner/Senior Management role within the next 3-5 years.
Hybrid role, located in beautiful Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conducts top level review of tax returns and resolves all tax issues with client; involves specialists where appropriate.
Communicates with the Client and Assurance team involving any issues identified in tax accrual reviews.
Plans and reviews the tax process including budget and staffing procedures Manages and develops client relationships based on the scope of work and advisory experience.
Provides counsel, advice, research and information to clients and colleagues Applies Firm and professional standards for preparation of tax returns.
Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing new efficiencies and methods to maximize client benefits Frames projects and issues for effective delegation to seniors and staff Develops an in-depth understanding of technical, practical issues and opportunities in individual & corporate tax property, sales, corporate, flow-through, state and local, international, expatriate, credits and incentives, compensation and benefits, and accounting methods.
Supports and facilitates training Manages and cultivates staff for enhanced learning, growth and building advisory mindsets based on experience and knowledge Supervises and oversees staff development and feedback processes Desired Education and/or
Experience:
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business required.
Master's in Accounting or Taxation highly preferred 7
years of progressive accounting experience.
Previous management or supervisory experience.
Prior experience with individual taxation, corporate taxation, consolidations, partnerships & other flow-entities, Estates and Trusts desired Active CPA certification or Enrolled Agent designation required.
Prior experience MS Office, Ultra Tax CS, GoFileRoom, AdvanceFlow, and similar tools preferred Ideal Persona:
Prior experience working in an advisory or consultative firm is highly desired.
Ability to coach, mentor and develop tax professionals.
Strong communicator, verbally and in writing Critical thinking skills, advisory and research skillset with the ability to delegate work when appropriate Team player that enjoys coaching and managing others Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships Ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients.
The ability to pivot, be comfortable with changing environments or a broad overview of duties and tasks is desirable.
