1 Match on retirement savings Responsibilities A Research Technician Associate position is available at the University of Michigan Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Department.
The successful candidate will be expected to work under the supervision of the laboratory?s faculty members and in conjunction with the research area specialist.
Responsibilities include:
Provides routine to moderately complex technical support for a research facility.
Collects, analyzes, and processes research data.
Performs a variety of tests, using both routine and special techniques and methods.
Assists in report writing.
Sets up equipment and materials for course instruction.
Performs routine library work, including finding literature and copying articles.
Assist with recruitment of 230 participants (230 mothers and their infants) Calling, emailing, and responding to interested participants, keeping track of an excel spreadsheet and list of individuals contacted Setting up REDCap (online survey tool) to collect data from families Driving to participant homes and interacting with new mothers and babies, should be comfortable with interacting with parents and infants Explaining the IRB consent forms and process to participants Conducting the research protocol the same way each time using a script, and gathering data (videotaping participants while engaging with the research protocol) Providing compensation for participants and turning in forms to the office for compensation Providing instructions to participants on how to collect data with their phone Monitoring the server to make sure the data collected on the phone are accurate Weekly meetings with the study team to bring up any concerns, progress, and talk about next steps Required Qualifications High school diploma or Associate's degree and 1 year of experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical, as well as the ability to collaborate with others and follow standard research procedures.
Candidate should be comfortable with and capable of working both independently and in a small team and have a flexible work schedule to accommodate research participants.
Desired Qualifications BA or BS degree in related disciplines such as psychology Prior experience with REDCap databases is preferred.
Prior experience working with children, families, and vulnerable populations is preferred.
Prior experience with in-person home visits or in-person interactions with families and children is preferred.
Additional InformationThis is a 2-year term-limited appointment with the potential for extension based on grant funding and performance.
At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits.
This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
