SummaryThe Biomedical and Clinical Informatics Lab has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral research fellow.
Our lab focuses on leveraging machine learning techniques to advance biomedical and clinical applications.
Our research aims to develop computer-aided decision support systems and innovative signal/image processing methods, along with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.
Current clinical applications areas of focus include drug design, traumatic brain injury, ulcerative colitis, and heart failure, among others.

Responsibilities Apply advanced algebraic and numerical methods to analyze and interpret biomedical data, including signals, images, and molecular data.
Utilize programming languages such as Python and Matlab to develop and implement machine learning algorithms and models.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and external collaborators to contribute to ongoing projects.
Take a leadership role in research projects, including project planning, experimental design, and data analysis.
Provide mentorship and guidance to students and junior researchers within the lab.
Actively engage in project management activities, including grant writing and reporting.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to effectively present research findings, prepare scientific manuscripts, and contribute to conferences and workshops.
Work independently and efficiently, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic research environment.
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, biomedical informatics, and related fields.
Establish collaborations with clinical, industrial, and research partners to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote the translation of research findings into practical applications.
Required Qualifications Ph.
D.
in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field.
Strong background in algebra, optimization, computational mathematics, and/or statistics.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Matlab for implementing machine learning algorithms and models.
Experience working with biomedical data, including signals and images, and applying algebraic and numerical methods for analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
