We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist who is a member of the Genomics team.
The Technical Specialist, Genomics is responsible for technical conferrals and support for the Daicel Arbor Biosciences genomics tools and services portfolio, currently including next-generation sequencing kits (myBaits) and laboratory/bioinformatics services (myReads) and cytogenetic probes (myTags).
This individual is a core team member supporting Daicel Arbor Biosciences' essential genomics custom products/services business.
This detail-oriented individual should enjoy working with researchers around the world to successfully and efficiently advance their project goals with Daicel Arbor Biosciences products/services.
In this role, they serve as a key liaison between clients, account representatives, and internal technical specialty teams.
They are knowledgeable about technical applications and scientific usage of Daicel Arbor Biosciences' NGS and cytogenetics products/services and are able to apply and communicate this knowledge productively to internal and external stakeholders.
As needed, they serve as primary technical point of contact for genomics orders that involve technical discussion and/or customization.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Serve as primary technical point of contact for new genomics orders.
In cooperation with sales team, confer with clients to facilitate Daicel Arbor Biosciences' customization of project/probe designs to meet client needs.
Facilitate communication between client and specialty technical experts as needed.
Update relevant internal project databases with current information.
Maintain relevant scientific and market knowledge about Daicel Arbor Biosciences' technical products and their research applications.
Serve as primary point of contact for post-sales technical support inquiries.
Occasional travel to represent the company at scientific conferences and to visit clients may be required.
Qualifications &
Experience:
Intellectual curiosity and passion for new challenges and knowledge.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including video calls.
Creative, energetic, self-motivated.
Working knowledge of the relevant research/market priorities, tools, and analyses used in genomics research and industry (e.
g.
bioinformatics, phylogenetics, genotyping, etc).
Working knowledge of the NGS sample lifecycle from DNA/RNA extraction through data analysis.
Ability to build and sustain functional collaborative interactions with key parties including clients, sales team, product scientists, and R&D (Research & Development).
Proficient with relevant local and cloud-based office software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Google Sheets, etc.
Required:
Minimum 1-year benchwork laboratory experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) in an academic or industry setting, including familiarity with library preparation, sequencing, and/or other relevant genetics laboratory techniques.
Preferred:
Familiarity with custom hybridization capture laboratory procedures and data analysis for targeted NGS.
Participation in NGS research experiment project design, laboratory execution, bioinformatics data analysis, interpretation of results, and presentation.
Advanced degree including the generation and interpretation of NGS data.
Education:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in related field and job experience in life sciences / biotechnology.
Preferred:
Master's degree in related field and / or equivalent job experience in life sciences / biotechnology.
