Summary:
The facilities technician will be part of the facilities/maintenance team.
The facilities technician will be responsible for ensuring inspecting, repairing, and maintaining company equipment including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing at both Ann Arbor locations.
This position requires the ability to read instructions represented in manuals and follow these instructions.
This position exists in a temperature-controlled environment.
Essential/Key Functions:
Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures Involved in the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and facilities.
Performs routine maintenance on machinery or building structures including plumbing May work on electrical wiring Maintain building HVAC equipment Maintain outside structures such as sidewalks, windows, etc.
Repair potential safety hazards Executes modifications on equipment.
Ensures that all safety precautions are followed with contractors.
Assists with property inspections Participates in the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services, and facility expansion.
Inspects construction and installation progress.
Responsible for preventive maintenance of facility equipment, including HVAC and laboratory Dehumidification and air purification equipment.
Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions.
Provides advisory support and assistance to the department manager as needed.
Responsible for meeting team targets and key performance indicators Participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team.
Follow all safety guidelines and operate in a safe manner Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary including weekends and holidays if deemed Other duties as assigned by management Management

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Associate degree or other certification in Construction, Facilities Management or Project Management desired Plumbing experience Electrical experience Groundskeeping experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience reading blueprints, work orders, site and floor plans, building codes, zoning laws and surveying.
Able to work in a collaborative environment.
Knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques, site planning and applicable local, state and federal building codes.
Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks.
Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline oriented.
Able to work effectively with subcontractors and local authorities when needed.
